ABOUT ME
Neo Florence Gilson is a Cork-based poet, storyteller, and singer from South Africa. In 2021, she was awarded the Playitforward fellowship, and she presented public readings at the Dublin Literature Festival, Traffika Radio Europe’s “Migrant Authors in Ireland,” the Cork International Poetry Festival, and the Cuirt Festival of Literature’s “Breaking Ground Writers.” Neo has appeared in Corcadorca Theatre Company and Outlandish Theatre Platform productions. Her writing has been published in The Stinging Fly, Storms Journal of Poetry, Prose, and Visual Art, Irish Weekend Examiner, and Golden Shovel Poetry Jukebox Belfast. She obtained the Dignity Partnerships Visibility Award 2023 for a poet from the migrant community who is contributing to social change.
She has performed on various platforms in the UK and Africa. She also released a gospel audio CD titled “Behind The Veil” in May 2013.
The CD has received radio airplay on Ukhozi fm, SAfm, Revival fm and radio Taemaneng.
